Zerve: Content That Ranks on Google and Gets Cited by AI
The Problem
Zerve builds a collaborative data science and AI development environment for enterprise teams. The product is genuinely technical, competing in a space alongside Jupyter, Databricks, Deepnote, and a growing field of AI-native tooling. The team had deep domain expertise and real customer wins. What they did not have was a content operation that could turn that expertise into discoverability.
The blog existed. It was not working. Organic search sessions from the blog over the prior 12 months totaled 291. Non-branded impressions, meaning people finding Zerve without already searching for the brand by name, were essentially zero.
The Work
For a technical product in a competitive category, search-optimized content has to earn its ranking twice: once with Google, and once with the AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) that a growing share of the target audience uses to research tools before they ever click a link. That requires different thinking than a standard SEO blog post. The content has to be genuinely authoritative, structured to answer the questions AI engines are trained to surface, and written at the level of fluency that data scientists and ML engineers would expect from a peer.
Over roughly 12 months, I produced 50+ pieces across several categories.
SEO and GEO-optimized long-form blog posts. Every piece was structured for organic performance: primary keyword in the H1 and first 100 words, secondary keywords distributed through the body, FAQ sections targeting featured snippet eligibility, meta descriptions optimized for click-through. The same structural decisions that help Google parse a page for ranking also help AI engines identify it as a credible source for citation.
Regular Cadence of Long-Form Content
A consistent publishing cadence of two or more posts per week, mixing SEO-driven guides under my byline with ghostwritten pieces under Zerve's executive team, keeping the blog active across multiple voices and topics.
Executive ghostwriting across multiple voices. Zerve's leadership has strong, distinct points of view on how data work is changing. Ghostwriting across product leadership, engineering, and the CEO meant each piece had to carry the appropriate technical fluency and read as that person's actual thinking, not a brand talking about its product. I studied each executive's writing style and personality to make it feel like it came from their own mind. Topics ranged from ML infrastructure to AI agent architecture to data governance and collaborative data science workflows. Ghostwriting for a technical audience means the post has to hold up whether a founder or a senior data scientist is reading it. These did.
Ghostwriting as Executives
Ghostwritten in the voice of Zerve's CPO, this blog post captures a real conversation from the Data Day podcast about what makes technical support relationships last, written to sound like it came straight from his mind.
Monthly user newsletter. Blog content written for search was also curated and adapted for Zerve's existing user base via a monthly newsletter built and managed in HubSpot, extending the reach of each piece beyond organic discovery.
Event content, product launches, social distribution. Hackathon recaps, conference wrap-ups, seed round coverage, LinkedIn copy, product announcement posts, and ongoing management of Zerve's LinkedIn and X accounts kept the content operation connected to what was actually happening at the company.
"Her high-quality work helped increase our visibility across search and AI platforms."
